What is a dynamic QR code and how does it work?+
A dynamic QR code is an editable QR code that routes scanners through a secure, permanent redirect URL rather than hardcoding the destination address directly into the pixel pattern. When someone scans your code, the server looks up the current destination URL in our database and instantly redirects the user with a 302 header. This enables you to update destination links at any time without changing your printed materials.
Can I change the destination URL after printing?+
Yes, absolutely. The primary advantage of using editable QR technology is that you can update destination website links anytime from your QRDynamic dashboard. Your printed restaurant menus, event signs, vehicle decals, or business cards will immediately direct visitors to your newly assigned destination without requiring a single reprint.
Will you ever display ads or interstitials in front of my visitors?+
No, never. QRDynamic strictly enforces an ad-free redirect guarantee across all free and paid plans. When a customer scans your printed code, they are routed straight to your target destination URL with zero waiting screens, zero interstitial popups, and zero sponsored advertisements. Your brand reputation remains fully protected.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?+
A static barcode encodes raw text, URLs, or contact information directly into the matrix of black and white squares. Once generated and printed, its destination can never be modified. In contrast, an editable code contains a lightweight redirect shortlink that points to a database entry, enabling post-print destination editing, scan count tracking, visitor analytics, and link pause controls.
What happens to my links if I downgrade or cancel a subscription?+
Static codes remain completely free and functional offline forever. For our editable tier, the free plan includes one active code with permanent redirect support. If you downgrade from a paid Pro subscription, your primary code remains fully operational, while additional codes can be managed, paused, or reactivated during your account billing cycle.
What image formats can I export my QR code in?+
You can currently export high-resolution PNG files directly from the generator and your dashboard, rendered at crisp dimensions suitable for print flyers, stickers, table tents, and billboards. Vector SVG downloads and high-DPI PDF exports are scheduled for our upcoming Pro expansion release to assist professional graphic designers.
Can I track how many people scan my codes?+
Yes. Every dynamic QR code created in QRDynamic automatically tracks total scan counts. Upgrading to a paid plan unlocks comprehensive scan analytics, including 30-day historical trend charts, geographic country distribution based on Cloudflare edge telemetry, and mobile versus desktop scanner device classifications.
Why do shortlink QR codes scan more reliably than static codes?+
Because our system only encodes a compact redirect URL (around 25 to 30 characters), the visual dot density is substantially lower than a static code encoding a lengthy 150-character tracking URL. Fewer dots mean cameras can focus and decode the pattern significantly faster, even under dim lighting or from greater scanning distances.
Can I pause or temporarily deactivate an active code?+
Yes. Inside your QRDynamic dashboard, you can toggle any code between active and paused states with a single click. When paused, visitors will see a clean status notice instead of reaching the destination, allowing you to temporarily disable promotional campaigns without discarding physical signage.
What is the recommended minimum print size for scanning reliability?+
For handheld items like business cards and restaurant table menus, we recommend a minimum size of 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 inches). For posters, banners, and wall signs scanned from several feet away, scale the code proportionally using a 10:1 distance-to-size ratio (e.g., a viewing distance of 1 meter requires a 10 cm QR code).
